Summer is officially here which can only mean one thing – time to light the grill. With the fourth of July rapidly approaching, I will be ushering in the holiday with a series of posts dedicated to the apex of summer living. I hope you will join me in grabbing your friends, chilling a few cold ones and lighting the charcoal for a few delicious summer eats.

If you are a Food Network fanatic like myself, you know that the king of summer grilling is none other than Bobby Flay. I, even on my finest culinary day, will come about as close to Bobby Flay’s grilling proficiency as a Gucci bag from China but that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun trying. Those hoping to learn a few tips and tricks from Flay should check out his new series, Grill It! With Bobby Flay - a show where grilling novices like us can literally get in-person lessons from the master. Grill It! premieres on The Food Network July 6th at 9AM EST.

In the meantime, gear up for the fourth of July by checking out Bobby Flay’s cookbooks. His latest, Grill It! With Bobby Flay
was just released in April and serves as a companion to his new show. While you’re mulling over your grilling menu, consider sipping on the ultimate thirst-quencher, Pomegranate and Lime Iced Tea with this delectable recipe from Martha Stewart’s Real Simple Magazine.

Pomegranate and Lime Iced Tea
from Real Simple

8 cups boiling water
8 tea bags
2 cups pomegranate juice
3 limes, thinly sliced
1/4 cup sugar

Pour the water into a heat-resistant pitcher. Add the tea bags and let steep for 10 minutes. Remove and discard the bags and allow the tea to cool to room temperature before refrigerating. Add the pomegranate juice, limes, and sugar and pour over ice.

Yield: Makes 8 servings
