Spicing Up A Bouquet

We all know the chili pepper – particularly here in Texas. What would Mexican food, or for that matter any food, be without this bit of fiery flavor? Think about adding some spice to your wedding bouquet, boutonniere or centerpiece by adding sprigs of mini chilies. Erin Barrett, owner of NuBloom Designs (erinkb@aol.com) in Chicago, did just that for the wedding flowers of a Midwest bride and a groom with Texas ties.

The brilliant splash of red, orange or yellow from the chili combined with the cool greens and whites of a calla lily or cymbidium orchid is elegant as it is unique. As we head in to the russet colors of the fall season, chilies (fruit of the capsicum plant) can spice up a wedding or any event.
