Just the Girls: Party theme ideas

by Christina on September 9, 2008

Now that school is back in session, the endless cycle of children’s birthday parties begins. While most of us don’t have an endless budget or time - there are ways to throw your kids a bash that will be the envy of all their friends by sticking to theme parties. Here are four great theme parties for girls.

POP STAR PARTY - Why not let the birthday girl and her friends channel their inner Miley or Britney with a pop star bash that is all access for them and their friends. With some dress up pop star outfits, microphones and a makeshift stage - the girls can party pop star style. With games such as Rockband out for various game consoles - setting up a Grammy worthy performance is as easy as opening a box. If you don’t have Rockband, you can easily rent a karaoke machine and have just as much fun. Got girls in the bunch with stage fright? It’s easy to include them by giving them special responsibilities such tour manager, groupie etc. Be sure to snap pictures and send the girls home with a framed keepsake of their pop star moment.

TEA TIME - A good old fashioned tea party can easily be adapted for a wide variety of ages. If you are hosting a party for little ones, invite the dolls and let the girls sip from tiny tea cups and munch on cookies. However, if you are hosting a party for older girls - encourage them to dress in their finest duds, sip on specialty blends of tea and before you know it they’ve got a party worthy of their favorite “Gossip Girls”.

TAKE THE CAKE - Birthday cake can be a party within itself if you give your guests mini cakes to decorate with frosting, food coloring, piping bags etc. Let them show off their delicious creations and then feast on some yummy eats.

MOCKTAIL PARTY - Let the girls dress up in trendy oufits and have a mocktail party. Serve virgin cocktails and appetizers. Perfect for any socialites in training.
