Set a BeautiFALL table

by Administrator on September 23, 2008

One bright autumn morning many years ago, my young children woke up to enjoy our usual Saturday morning breakfast of homemade pancakes, soy sausage and cinnamon apples (this was before my current 55 hr. work weeks). However, on this particular Saturday, the stifling heat had given way to a crisp, cool Autumn greeting from Mother Nature. I pulled out my everyday stoneware, dug out a green jaquard tablecloth from the bottom of my chest and snipped pieces of foilage from the yard. As the kids stumbled outside in their pajamas, they wondered what special guests would be joining us for this first meal of the day.

I had prepared this wonderful setting just for my family. Truth is, they couldn’t have cared less. I had done it for myself. Something about a beautifully prepared table on a perfect day just makes a meal more satisfying. Dining al fresco just heightend the experience. Don’t forget to look no further than your backyard for magnolia branches, ferns, acorns, pine cones or anything that strikes your fancy. Don’t be afraid to experiment - some of my best arrangements were done thru mix and match trials! Add squash, gourds or pumpkins and
your table will be ready for pancake panache or whatever the cook is serving!

Here are some inspirational starts for your own perfect autumn table setting.

The soup tureen is exquisite, but a more reasonable version is available here.

Love the bamboo style china. This versatile pattern transcends the seasons, and can be used all year round with colored accents.

What a GREAT find from Kohl’s - I might have to spring for these!
